Instructional Designer, Online Development
Job Summary
The Instructional Designer of the University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business Online Development will work closely with faculty and staff to update and improve online and hybrid courses. The incumbent will promote the use of technology-based resources in learning and teaching and provide consultation, instruction, and assistance to faculty, students, and staff related to the editing, design, production, quality assurance, and instructional technology of curriculum development.
Responsibilities
- Write/script, develop, edit, and review course content as required, and aid in the evaluation of online courses for the David Eccles School of Business
- Assist professors in preparing, structuring, organizing, storyboarding, and outlining their course content to be transformed into online courses
- Develop and establish solid working relationships with faculty and instructional designers
- Coordinate and facilitate sessions and workshops with faculty and instructional designers for course development
- Deliver detailed module/session outlines and work closely with faculty to obtain content and required materials
- Help train professors in Internet-based course development concepts and use of related applications used in the University's online course delivery platform as required
- Leverage appropriate processes, procedures, and course materials to facilitate the instructor's ability to provide course material
- Contribute to the success of the Eccles School Online Programs by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and competency in both written and face-to-face communication

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.
