Job Description

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada is seeking applicants for a full-time Accessibility Specialist & Instructional Designer for the WebCollege Department.

This position consults with faculty to design, develop, and implement high-quality online and hybrid courses that ensure accessibility and copyright compliance. Serves as the academic liaison to the Disability Resource Center and verifies accessibility of instructional software used in all course modalities. Supports faculty and online students by troubleshooting LMS (Canvas) issues and its integrated tools. Designs and conducts trainings on best-practices in online course delivery and instructional accessibility. Manages and resolves help-desk tickets related to the LMS (Canvas). Provides guidance to faculty and staff regarding best practices in developing services that meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field,

2. Two years of related experience

3. Experience in computer technical support or related support positions

4. Knowledge of ADA requirements in online course delivery

5. Familiarity with Canvas or other Learning Management Systems

Responsibilities:

Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

1. Work with faculty to design, develop, and implement accessible, compliant online and hybrid courses.
2. Explore, evaluate, and support instructional software adoption, including software accessibility verification.
3. Ensure that WebCollege courses are functional and compatible across multiple browsers, OS, and plug-ins.
4. Design and deliver faculty trainings on best-practices in online instruction and accessibility per QM standards.
5. Serve as the Academic Liaison to the Disability Resource Center and attend DRC team meetings.
6. Manage and resolve help-desk tickets related to the LMS (Canvas).
7. Other duties as assigned.

Salary and Benefits Information:

Salary: $49,076 - $61,345, Salary placement will depend on education and experience.
