ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position works remotely requiring a telecommuting agreement and adherence to the UCSC Telecommuting/Remote Work Guidelines. The employee shall be available in a full-time capacity during assigned telecommuting work hours (specific hours to be discussed with supervisor). While telecommuting/remote working, the employee is responsible for ensuring a worksite environment suitable for accomplishing their regular job duties during scheduled hours of work and, if applicable, arranging for dependent care just as they would if they were working at the regular UCSC worksite.

Position Summary

Works on assessment design content and initiatives that are of moderate scope and complexity. Applies organization policies, procedures and objectives to create assessment content to meet online needs among various functions and departments. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions. Involves scheduling, set up, submission, and monitoring content production to successful completion in accordance with established procedures and practices. Conducts ongoing monitoring of the system and activities in the system to ensure all activity and production complies with established compliance expectations.

JOB DUTIES
50% - Assessment Content Production    

Works under general supervision and receives general instructions on on-going assessment content development work, with detailed instructions provided on new projects, assignments and initiatives.

Collaborates with more senior staff members to determine and implement methods for production and delivery of course assessment content and effective use of technology, programmatic testing, and vendor hand-offs that promotes learner engagement and knowledge acquisition high quality assessment content in accordance with established procedures and schedules.

Works in a collaborative manner with team members to prioritize work assignments, conduct analysis, and develop recommendations.

Works with more experienced professionals to learn and contribute to a job task analysis process in the instructional design phase.

50% - TIMS Support    

Prepares and maintains documentation including end user documentation and standard operating procedures for use of the Test and Management system (TIMS) including procedures to resolve issues to meet compliance with test packaging requirements.

May conduct product / service training of the Test and Management system (TIMS) for internal and external users.

Monitors ongoing activity in the Test and Management system (TIMS) to alert the project team to any activity that does not adhere to standard operating procedures.

Completes testing of authoring content and tools to meet ADA requirements, software system specifications, and organizational needs in accordance with defined standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills as well as collaboration and negotiation skills.
  • Working knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
  • Working knowledge of and skills with relevant business software systems.
  • Proficiency in planning, resourcing and monitoring effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the organization.
  • Familiarity with large databases, technical specifications, and accessibility compliance expectations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of functional areas and understands how work within one course may impact work being done on other courses or in other areas.
  • Working knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development.
  • Working knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning theories and education methodologies.

  • Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
  • Ability to work remotely from a home office and be able to fulfill requirements of the UCSC telecommuting agreement.
  • Ability to work long periods of time at a computer with or without accommodation.
